Traci Snyder, RYT 200

Do you know the story of the lotus? The lotus flower, is a magical flower rooted in mud, surrounded by water and somehow finds a way to rise to the surface to bloom and grow. A lotus is a survivor, it pushes its way through muddy waters and finds the sunlight.

In September 2017, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  My diagnosis resulted in a mastectomy.  Life as I knew it halted, including my yoga practice.  My recovery meant the usual ... rest, healthy diet and doctor appointments. What I couldn’t get out of my mind was that I needed yoga to heal completely, so in my downtime, I researched and researched local studios!

July 2018, I was released by my doctor and attended my first yoga class at Sage Studio. Instantly, it was evident I had found my yoga home!  I showed up to every class possible and loved yoga more than ever. The instructors were out of this world and the studio was a strong community of colorful characters.  I started gaining strength and not just physically.

I found myself wanting to know all I could about yoga. I wanted the spiritual teachings, guidance, and wanted to be sure I knew correct pose posture.  What I soon realized was that yoga is to be shared.  After a talk with the owner and my teacher, Shane Knox, I took a leap of faith and signed up for Teacher Training. If I could give to someone what so many teachers had given to me...I needed to do it.

I never intended to be a yoga teacher. But life has this way of making a path to follow. It’s up to us to take the step when it is presented. In May 2019, I earned my RYT200 designation with Shane Knox through Yoga Alliance.

I would love to share my practice with you!  Join me on Thursdays at 6pm for Yin Yoga!
