300 Hour RYT Program

Beginning Fall 2021

Faculty:

Mandatory Training Times: 

Contact Hours: 

  • All training module dates and any classes with Shane.

  • Remainder of contact hours are any class with any teacher at Sage Studio or ERYT500 from another studio.

Required Lead Trainer Contact Hours: 135 hours

Karma Yoga: Each student will serve 38 hours of Karma Yoga.

  • Outreach programs (documented)

  • Leading a karma yoga class or workshop

  • Cleaning at the studio

  • Any type of service to the community

Personal study: 124 hours (can be filled by any of the following)

  • Working on thesis

  • Classes with faculty or any ERYT 500 at other studio

  • Keeping a class journal of what you have learned in classes

  • Group Meditations

  • Related reading

  • Watching and critiquing online yoga teachers

Cost:

Prepaid: $3,000 by August 15, 2021

Start Date: $3,300 - $300 deposit and balance of $3000 paid by September 1, 2021.. 

Payment Plan: $3,500 Terms: $1750 down by September 1, 2021. 7 monthly payments of $250 beginning October 1, 2021.

 

Tax is included in cost.

Fees are non-refundable as per signed contract. 

All payments should be made to Sage Studio.

Fees do not cover regular classes or suggested reading materials​.

Saturday, September 4th,  2021

Module One:

  • Doshas: How does your energy flow?

  • Koshas: The many layers of the self.

  • Gunas: Too little, Too much, and Just enough when it comes to the energetic self. 

  • Explanation of Thesis: All trainees will develop a 2-3 hour workshop on their area of speciality. 

  • Explanation of Declaration of Study: This is declaring a “major” or specific area of focus as a teacher. 

  • Dosha Constitution Test

  • Nutrition for Doshas: Eating for your energetic type. 

 

Saturday, September 18th, 2021

Module Two:

  • Explanation of Training Sadhana: Each training module will include an active practice of asana (themed to match content of the module), Pranayama, and Meditation

  • Training Sadhana: Active practice.

  • Iyengar: Study of the line of yoga focused on alignment and structure. 

  • Review of the 8 Limbs: Why we practice Raja Yoga and what it means to be a Brahmchari.

  • Mantras: The mechanism of Pratyahara and Bhakti

  • Pranayama: Control your breathing and master yourself.

 

Saturday, October 2nd,  2021

Module Three:

  • Training Sadhana

  • Kundalini: The yoga of movement with intention.

  • Kriyas: Introduction into yogic movements vs static holds.

  • Siddhis: The yoga superpowers.

  • Shushumna: Understanding the 3rd Nadi, the central channel.

  • Ida and Pingala: The roles the Nadis play in forming the chakra system and how they become blocked, cleared, and charged. 

  • Kundalini Rising: The inner serpent of enlightenment.

Module Four:

  • Training Sadhana

  • Power/Vinyasa: The dynamic power of flow based yoga. 

  • Prana Vayus: Exploring the different ways energy moves in various poses. 

  • Teaching Styles: Developing your personal style while remaining true to traditional yogic concepts.

  • Dharma: Your Soul’s mission, should you choose to accept it. 

  • Karma: What you do comes back to you. Understanding the cause and effect principle of life.

  • Ashtanga Primary Series: Introduction to one of the strongest practices that exists. 

  • Floating Jump thru and Jump back: I believe I can fly!

Module Six:

  • Training Sadhana 

  • Yin: Deep holds, deeper understanding. 

  • Yamas and Niyamas: How the observances and restrictions apply on and off the mat. 

  • Communication: Exercises in communication skills and techniques. 

  • Left, right, and middle: Applying the 3 paths to asana and life.

  • Advanced Twists: Expect side crows, binds, and much more. 

  • Adjustments: To be practiced throughout the module at any point of active practice.

  • Training Sadhana

  • Inversions: Seeing the world from a new perspective and the strength it takes to do so. 

  • Principles of Demonstration: Learning different ways of leading classes and “modeling” poses.

  • Bandhas and Energy: From survival to thriving. It all starts at the root.

  • Chakras: A deeper look at the energy centers that control all aspects of our being.

Module Ten:

  • Training Sadhana

  • Advanced Forward Bending Poses: Binds, bends, and props to take your practice deeper. 

  • Transitions: How to use the movements between the poses to create a more challenging and interesting class. 

  • Practice Adjustments

Module Eleven:

  • Training Sadhana

  • Blindfold Yoga Student and Teacher: An exercise in teaching without seeing your students.

  • Practice Adjustments

  • Doing poses vs working poses: It’s a matter of focus and intensity.

Module Twelve:

  • Training Sadhana

  • Sacred Texts: Understanding the role of these texts and how to incorporate them into yogic practice. This is Svadyaya in action. 

  • Mythology: Incorporating the stories and mythologies that relate to the practice.

Module Thirteen:

  • Training Sadhana 

  • Advanced Arm Balances: Finding the strength and balance to fly these advanced poses.

  • Mudras: The power and focus that comes from connecting different meridians of energy that culminate in the hands and fingers. 

 

Saturday, March 5th, 2022

Module Fourteen: 

  • Training Sadhana

  • Ethics: How to stay on the sacred path in a world that wants to sexualize our practice.

  • Delivery of Thesis: These will be the presentations of the workshops each trainee is required to give based on their area of specialized study. Muladhara Chakra: The root of it all. There will be a worksheet for each chakra over the following modules.

  • Current Trends in Yoga: Instagram, hot yoga, lululemon, and beyond.

  • Marketing: How to use social media, developing websites, and how to build classes.
